Building Program
We're "making space to share"!
Our Challenge
St. Matthew's is in need of more space to accommodate more attendees at our services, more participants in our many activities, and more parishioners to know and share in God’s love.
In support of expanding and improving our building and grounds, there is a need to accomplish the following:
- Continue to seek input on types and amount of space needed for our church
- Plan and design the renovation and expansion of our building and grounds to increase and optimize space
- Develop and implement a phased building program for the near and longer term
Building Committee
Mission
The Building Committee serves the vision and mission of Saint Matthew’s by addressing the physical space needs of the congregation. The Committee seeks input from parishioners on building and grounds requirements, establishes plans and designs for capital projects, leads special fundraising efforts, and implements construction of facility improvements and expansions.

Status
With the support of a Mustard Seed Grant from the Diocese and a generous estate gift, St. Matthew’s completed a master plan for the renovation and expansion of our church facilities in 2009. From late 2009 through August 2010, we completed our design for Phase 1, which will include:
- Renovation of our existing building—especially the bathrooms and kitchen
- Expansion of the Parish Hall to include new classrooms, as well as space for the Flower Ministry, Altar Guild, choir, and other groups
- Minor site and landscaping improvements
A later phase would include more space in the Sanctuary for our services. Our current project will make space for the needs of our parish in accomplishing our mission—more space for knowing and sharing God’s love.
As of mid October, we have received all of our permits for construction, and we are beginning construction!
