St. Matt’s Mission Possible

Who: Kids rising to Grades 2 - 8

What: Summer Mission Work to help people in Loudoun County

When: June 28-July 2, 2010 (attend for one day or all five)
From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring a bag lunch!

Where: Meet each day at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church and depart for a different mission each day.

Why: If you are looking for some summer fun, searching for ways to volunteer, wanting to share God's love.... This is the program for you!

How Much: Part of the Mission Possible goal is to do all this good work without requiring any resources from the Church. We welcome donations of $10/day to cover incidentals.

We'll start each day with fellowship, some games, and then prepare for an activity that helps people in our community! Highlights from 2009:

  • Visited Habitat for Humanity & fed a hot lunch to the workers
  • Played Bingo with the Residents of Sunrise Nursing Home
  • Cleaned & trimmed St. Matt’s adopted purple trail @ Claude Moore Park
  • Collected, Sorted, & Packed groceries for families at LINK
  • Bought & Assembled Green Cleaning Kits for LINK
  • Visited the Cascades Firehouse & Loudoun Red Cross
  • Organized & Cleaned the Good Shepherd Alliance Thrift Store
  • Weeded the gardens around St. Matt’s & washed the windows
  • Collected School Supplies & Toiletry Items
  • Tie-dyed T-shirts, Assembled & Decorated Home Depot Kits, & so much more! Every day was a balance of work & play!
