FOR CHILDREN

Our Children's Sunday School program has classes for children from pre-school (about age four) through 5th grade. Sunday School classes coincide with the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the Parish Hall between 10:15 a.m. and 10:25 a.m. There, they may leave their children with the day's Sunday School teachers. The Sunday School program begins with all the children together for a story, an opening service, and a prayer for those celebrating birthdays during the coming week. The children then proceed to their classrooms with their teachers for the day's lessons and join their parents during the announcements portion of the worship service.

Middle School Sunday School (grades 6-8) meets during the Sunday School hour. This group has a varied program.

Nursery Care is provided during all three Sunday services (8:00, 9:15 and 10:30) for children up to three years old. Two regular nursery attendants, assisted by parent volunteers, maintain a clean and caring environment for infants and toddlers.

WATCH (aka Wednesday evenings At Church) is our name for the Saint Matthews' mid-week program on Wednesday evenings. Our fall 2007 WATCH program runs from September 12 through November 14, 2007 (10 weeks). The evening starts each Wednesday with a simple dinner at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. Food is provided, but contributions are welcome. Programs last from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and offer something for all ages. The children's programs include the following:

Middle School (grades 6-8): The middle school group will discuss Wild Truth Bible Lessons, led by Vicki Nelson.

Elementary School (grades 1-5): Youngsters in elementary grades will learn more about God and faith through hands-on activities.

Nursery (through kindergarten): Safe, caring child care is available, if needed.

Get ready to mark your calendars for our next Vacation Bible School in July 2008: We'll be discovering Jesus' miraculous power through a dynamic Power Lab--engaging kids with fun, science-themed surprises. They'll discover a new enthusiasm for God's Word—and for Jesus! For further information, click here or contact Jodie Leach.
